Back in Thailand, this after a very good few weeks in Laos. Thailand much more expensive and so much more developed. Spent a couple of days in Chang Rai, a small town near the border and didn't do much, rented a moto and went to the White Temple. This temple has been builld by a Thai artist and he has paid for it too, he sells paintings and sculptures to finance it. It will take another 9 years before it will be finished. Nice to see.
After Chang Rai to Chang Mai, big city with almost 2 million people. Spent 4 nights at a nice guesthouse with a pool. The photos you see are from an elephant rescue park, most of the elephants have been taken here from the big cities and logging companies where they had to work and suffer from a lot of abuse. The elephants now can roam freely and enjoy their retirement, there are some baby elephants, these were rescued or taken to the centre to prevent them from working in the logging industry. Feeding the elephants was fun, they eat 8 to 10% of their own body weight, a lot !!!
Next direction will be central Thailand and then to the south coast. More thumbnails ...
