Hi everyone, things are settling down to a nice routine here in Pursat. Actually getting used to getting up at 7am and to the slow pace of life and work. A couple of weekends ago we went with all the barangs to the wedding of the daughter of the cow farm caretaker. It was a grand affair, all the girls got a sneak preview of the bride getting ready. They really cake on the skin whitener! Managed a quick swim in a nearby stream first, then spotted the buffalo nearby, luckily they were downstream from us! The wedding was really fun to see, lots of rituals that we don't quite understand, a band played traditional musical instruments and there was a lot of beer and typical wedding food on offer. The food consisted of dried meats, uncooked unidentifiable meats and boiled rice. The boiled rice definitely went down the best among the barangs. Surrounded most of the meal by poor kids from the village waiting for us to drink more beer so they could take the cans to sell. They loved having their photo taken, and seeing themselves on screen. A photo of the cutest, happiest kid is attached. We've also attached a few photos of views from the volunteer house where we are living. The train track runs passed the bottom of the garden, luckily only twice a day as it is more often used as a path, place to walk the cows, kids playground, gambling site and general meeting ground. The trains are so slow (20km/hr max) and loud that you can't miss them!
