This morning we got up bright and early at 6am to get ready for trip to Belgium. Andrew checked the Eurostar website to see if the trains were running again (after the fire in the tunnel yesterday). Unfortunately, all services have been cancelled today [sigh]. So we began our busy morning, trying to find another way to get to Belgium as soon as possible so that the rest of our itinerary was not disrupted too much.

We have managed to book a flight to Brussels but not until this evening. We are due to arrive late-ish, at 10.25pm. We had accommodation booked in Bruges but we won't be able to make it as there is no train at this time to get there. A bit of rejigging and we think we have managed to book online a hotel in Brussels - I say 'think' because it appears that the hotel has not received confirmation of our booking via the online website yet. Fingers crossed that we'll get to Brussels and all will be ok, otherwise it could be a rather interesting night.....

To top off the Eurostar misfortunes, a British travel company has just gone into liquidation so that has created more chaos for travellers turning up to the airport with no plane to catch now!

We have decided to leave for the airport early, as it may be rather chaotic today.
