So the last 4 or 5 days my stomichs just been a complete mess, i think actually worse then when i was in bolivia, which is kinda a surprise to me coz bolivia it looks like you´d get sick. However in colombia everything looks pretty up to standards so i have no real idea whats going on, but i´ve looked it up and it says its nothing to be worried about unless it lasts over 2 weeks and by then i should be in panama/costa rica which is pretty much as westernized as anywhere in north america (im expecting)
Weekend in cali
So my time was in cali, Its amazing what a differnce knowing locals makes, first impression Cali seemed all hype.
Then i meet hernan Juan joses brother, and Wow call was amazing, He took us to a look out point where there was comidians telling jokes just for fun it was all free, couples making out looking down on the city, really amazing area.
then we went to parque del perro
Which is a club restaurent district, Dispite what lonly planet says about avenida sexta.
Parque perro is the place to be if you wana be around locals, and beautiful women at every corner.
Theres also a club district outside cali city limits so they can get around the new by laws passed closing bars at 2am etc...
Bogota
So we arrived in bogota at 8pm, The bus ride was pretty curvy the scenery was spectacular, kinda how you picture colombia to look.
There was soldiers at every corner, keeping the highways secure.
I was told by a colombian friend of mine as recent as 4 years ago The trip shane and i are doing would not be possible, but the new president has had some real progress with increasing security of the country, and i guess thats why hes one of the most popular leaders in latin america.
Another thing i´ve kinda gotten from colombians is they seem to feel a lil alienated from the rest of the world, as they have a bad world reputation (considering there some of the friendliest and happiest people in the world)
I think for those reasons they are so eagar to show the world, what colombia is really about.
As the security situation gets better in colombia i could see this country really taking off as a tourist destination, For so many reasons, it really has so much to offer.
Hopefully with this it doesnt chance the country, as i´ve seen happen in countries like thailand and peru, where the lust for the tourist buck really changes the people and bends the culture.
But thats just me some random canadian wondering the world :P
Cheers
