The bus ride
First ITs the first south America bus I've taken where they ask for ID to get on the bus and your passport info, Then while you are on the bus waiting to leave they video tape everyone on the buses faces how they look etc... Why? well in case someone trys to rob the bus in the middle of the night somewhere in the middle of the Andes, it seems to be a more often occurring thing down here in peru.

So shanes really getting the south american experience by fire, We took the crazy bus ride from cusco to lima, if you look on the map its not very far, but because its through the andes it takes a while, and wow what a ride, most of the night we were being tossed around as the bus driver practiced for the south american formula one, taking the corners at incredible speeds and then hammering on the breaks, As we looked outside it was pitch black and really foggy, no idea how he was able to drive at such speeds 1

The morning so at the tail end of the bus ride Our bus got stoped, and no one knew what happened.
Turned out protesters had blocked the road In the Pisco area of peru, Anyone with a good memory will remember that was the area devastated by the earthquake a lil over a year ago.
I had spoken with some locals on the bus and they had told me more or less they were complaining with the price of food and meat, which apparently had developed, and as well that the govīt had done little to assist the devastated region, now a year later.

We were delayed about 3 hours, And then when things did slowly get rolling, Shane was looking out the window, and then was told to close the blinds incase protesters start tossing rocks...

finally we arrived in lima, Which To my surprise IS way more modern then i expected, Very clean and pretty fast paced city, As shane put it Why are all big cities so generic, Really lima could be Toronto, Kuala lumpor or Santiago de chile, just as easy.
Regardless it was a nice surprise, We will stay here the weekend then Sunday Afternoon we have another lovely 28 hour bus ride up to Guayaquil Ecuador Good times!
