Ever since that I had the idea to write about my visits. Recently from 01-08-2009 to 14-08-2009 I visited Ujjain, (Mahakalaswarar), Omkareswarar (Omkar Road) Indore, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Varnasi and lot of information I collected and wanted to share every thing with all those who needs it.
I left Chennai on 01-08-2009 along with two other members through Ahilanagiri Express to Ujjain. I extended my journey upto Indore through the TTR, since I had purchasaed a circular journey ticket, I had to do this. we reached Indore on 03-08-2009.
We left Indore through local bus to Omkareshwarar. Omkareswarar is in an island formed by river Narmada. We had a good bath at River Narmada, crossed river Narmada and had Dharshan of lord Omkareswarar. After this dharshan, we crossed river Narmada and had Mamaleswarar dharshan. Here photography is allowed. We did not stay at Omkareswarar. There is nothing except of lord Omkarareswarar. Lot of local buses are flying to Ujjain. We got a bus to Ujjain and came to Ujjain. We stayed in Yatri Nivas near "Nanakeda" bus stop. All buses entering into Ujjain stop at "Nanakeda" bus stop. The Yatri Nivas is very near to Hotel Anand / Radha. Yatrinivas Phone NO. 0734-2511398. Dormitary cost Rs 90.00 per head.
In Ujjain lord Mahakaleswarar to be worshiped. Especially "PASMA ARTHI" which is carried out of human ash, is to be seen. For this purpose, the yatri has to reach the temple exactly at 0230 hrs in the early morning and the Arthy lasts upto 0630 hrs.
Having seen this we came out of temple and arranged for a local visit through MP tourism conducted at Rs 60.00 per head. The bus can be booked from yatrinivas stated above.
We left ujjain throuh Dehradoon Express on 5th August and reached Haridwar on 6th August. We left to Rishikesh through local Auto which costs Rs 50.00 per head. We stayed in Hotel Divya near Lakshman Julah.. Good and nominal one. Rs 250.00 per room for three persons. Here we had the dharshan of lord Neelakanda Mahadev. Frequent auto is available from Lakshman Julah. Rs 80.00 per head for up and down. The evening Ganga arthi at Rishikesh near Parmarth Ashramam / Geetha Bhavan is one to be seen. We left Haridwar on 9th August and reached Varnasi on 10th August and stayed at Nattu Kottai Chettiar chatram near sushil cinema. Here south indian food is available. Very nominal rent Rs 40.00 per head and perday food Rs 75.00. Here also Ganga Arthi is available. In varnasi, Kasi Viswanathar another Jyothirlingam is available. Most Important is other than cash nothing is allowed inside Kasi Viswanathar Temple.
We left Varnasi on 12 th August and reached Chennai on 14th August 2009.
