Returning to La Antigua Guatemala and Loving it!

BACK IN ANTIGUA
When I first started planning my mom's trip to Costa Rica, she mentioned that she wanted to visit Panama while she was here. I quickly sold her on visiting Guatemala instead. I absolutely loved it the first time I visited with Carolina and would use any excuse to return!
Benigno came to pick us up at the airport (remember him from a few entries ago?) and we enjoyed a smooth ride to the city of La Antigua Guatemala. He was a bit heartbroken when he realized that Carolina hadn't returned this time around and consequently sulked part of the way. Luckily, he was back to his jolly old self by the following day!
DEJA VU
I enjoyed some of the familiar Antigua sites just as much on this visit as I had the first time I saw them with Carolina. There was the Parque Central, Church Ruins, Famous Antigua Arch, and of course, all of the beautifully colorful colonial architecture! I even took my mom to lunch to the same restaurant Caro and I ate at when we were there. I loved it so much, I couldn't resist the urge to return!
Later that afternoon, we ate ice cream on my favorite shop balcony and spent a leisurely time visiting all of the wonderful local shops. Once the sun set, we sat on a bench at Parque Central and people watched during the vibrant, Guatemalan night. Just as I remembered it, the city was alive with tourists and locals, enjoying the beautiful summer night.
