Exploring the Beverly Hills of Costa Rica

FIRST TRIP TO ESCAZU When I first chose Santa Ana as a place to live, I was very aware of how close it was to the Beverly Hills town of Escazu. Matter of fact that was a selling point! Since I will never be in a position to afford the real Beverly Hills, Escazu is a nice replacement!!
After a short 10 minute cab ride with Paco (remember him?), I was at the Multiplaza of Escazu, Costa Rica's biggest mall.
The mall really had everything I could ever need and the prices weren't as expensive as I thought they were going to be. There were many US staples, lest you get homesick: Radio Shack, Hallmark, Nike, Apple, etc. and the food court brought me back to the Providence Place Mall with its Taco Bell, Mickey D's, Quizno's and Subway. Just as in the US, I skipped the food court and spent most of my time at a bookstore - the nerd inside me is hard to shake!!
THE FARMER'S MARKET Sadee, the owner of the apartment I'm staying in, was kind enough to invite me to come along with her yesterday to the Farmer's Market in Escazu. The outdoor vendors were stock full with fresh fruit, veggies and knick knacks. I bought fresh cilantro, papaya, oranges, and strawberries - all for less than $2.50!! I love it here.
