COMING HOME
Fearless traveler or not, I wanted to spend my 30th birthday in the company of family, friends and a few Patron Tequila shots. This pit stop also gave me time to pause and reflect on my trip thus far. Here's what I've learned in the past two weeks:

1. My passport number from having to recite it multiple times every day (when checking into hotels, booking travel, crossing international borders, etc.)

2.Fearlessness is within my reach. I can will myself to be fearless, even if there are temporary lapses where I forget how far I've come. In two weeks of traveling by myself, I was only truly afraid once (refer to Entry #8, walking through the desert late at night with a meat sandwich as stray dogs approached in what seemed like to me, a pre-mauling state!)

3.The good, the bad, and the ugly of traveling by yourself. The good are all of the wonderfully interesting people you meet and spend time with along the way, as well as the rich self-discovery you're forced to make when your only companion is your journal and your own thoughts. The bad and the ugly is the homesickness and loneliness that hits you from time to time, especially when you miss the people you love.

4.You really can cram it all in! In two weeks, I visited 4 countries, traveled a total of 90 hours (plane=45, bus=15, boat=10, walking=approx 20, but too many to count!), received 12 passport stamps and wrote a total of 68 journal pages (front and back!!)

MY NEXT ADVENTURE
Living in Costa Rica for a few months and continuing to semi-backpack through Latin America!
