Week four brought along with it my second week of classes. I am taking six courses and with those courses come a different group to work with. These courses also bring a lot of homework. It has led to quite a bit of time spent doing school work. It gets to be a bit stressful, but it is nice to be busy for the first time in a while. My classes are fairly dull and lack challenges, with the exception of one. Business Ethics has proven to be a challenging course mentally and emotionally. I came out of class this week almost in tears. It was really frustrating, but so good for me. It made me think, which can be hard to do at times, because you shut a lot of stuff out to protect yourself. They brought down my walls and made me think about things I have avoided. They posed the big question "Why do you allow people to take advantage of you? Why do you let them walk all over you?" I was left speechless to this question
Other than homework, I didn't do much this week. I met a lot of new people, which is nice! One day was spent painting Heather's wall, which was great fun! She created a "wall of fame" and had all of her friends come and put a hand print on her wall and then sign them. It looks great. I put some pictures up from the process. Hand painting also led to face painting. You may laugh when you see what became of the face painting...I look super cool. We laughed a lot that day. We have a movie night on Friday (by we I mean Heather (NY), Matt (UK), Luke (UK), Freek (Holland), and me.) It was nice and very relaxing. On Saturday, Heather, Matt, and I went to the open market in town. We bought fresh fruit and flowers. It was probably the best fruit I have had in my life. The strawberries were just perfect. It was a beautiful day as well, it was sunny and warm. It has not been that nice in a long time. After the open market we wandered around the city center and gave Matt the tour (he had not been into town yet). Sunday was spent attempting to do homework but not getting very far because our internet failed again. This week may seem quite lacking in details, but I really didn't do much besides my homework and the random adventures with friends that I talked about above.
It makes me sad when I hear of all the things I am missing back at home. Nick's football games, freshman week at Stout, seeing Natalie when she came into town, etc...but that's just the way it goes.
