The hotel we broke the journey in turned out to be one of the most beautful (on the outside) we've staying in on the whole trip. When we woke up we were surrounded by steep mountainsides covered in jungle and the hotel itself was multi-layered with gardens and flowers and butterflies everwhere. Even had it's own organic lawn mover-a spotted deer!
The scenery made the wait for breakfast bearable but grumpiness started to return as our 11am departure turned into midday and our time in Kathmandu became ever shorter.
We made it eventually! The scenery along the road was fantastic - rice paddies and houses stacked in layers up along every hillside and a clear river running along the bottom of the gorge that the road twists and turns along beside. Traffic in Kathmandu was crazy so we didn't get to drop our bags in our rooms until about 5pm so it was straight out to explore the tiny, winding streets and find someplace to eat, drink & be merry (and update blogs & FaceBook statuses :) )
7am departure tomorrow for plane trip around Everest and my attempts to upload photos have been thwarted again so I'm off to bed.
