Travelled from Lucknow to Varanasi today which took from about 8am to about 3:30pm.
The air con last night was absolutely freezing - it was like an artic wind across our beds. It was nice for the first 5 minutes but when, after 3 hours and adding 3 layers of bedclothes, I couldn't breathe cos the air was too cold I finally got up and turned it off. Today my nose hasn't stopped running and my throat is sore. Surprisingly, being in a sauna all day (we're in about 30 deg cel every day) and in the artic at night isn't too good for you!
I went through probably a whole pack of tissues on the bus (so the rest of them must have been fit to strangle me) & my head felt worse and worse as time went on. When we arrived at the hotel I took some headache tablets and had a lovely buffet lunch and everything seemed much better. The hotel has a pool and internet and a massage parlour so needless to say that none of us strayed far during the afternoon.
Being the nerd I am, I spent a while backing up my photos and trying to get one of the guys' PowerBooks online so I could iChat the people back at work but no joy.
Also spent a bit of time catching up with some of the returnees who had gone off to Goa from Delhi for a beach break.
Not really much else to report for today: a couple of us have a 5:30am start tomorrow for a sunrise boat trip on the Ganges so went to bed pretty early!
