Got up for 9am brekkie so I wouldn't waste the whole day. Starting to get sick of eggs for breakfast...been having them since Iran I think! At least the toast was actually toasted for a change. [As you can tell, I'm fully recovered...I think it was the doxy (anti-malaria) drugs that was making me feel ill so I started taking them with my evening meal instead and now I'm fine]
A few of us took a horse & buggy ride to the Red Fort. We wandered about there for around an hour but I think we're all templed/mosqued out by now.
Then it was a short auto-rickshaw ride to the Taj Mahal. There were some Bollywood stars making an ad in there & the crowds around them were mental. We almost got trampled! Now we're missing the celebrity status we had in Pakistan :) We did pay some attention to the Taj itself: I just can't believe the amount of building work done to house 1 body...no wonder the guy's son put him in there too with his wife when he died!
Then we took cycle rickshaws to the shopping mall. One of the others has tagged me in a photo of the ride on FaceBook if you have access. We have resisted up until now but we really wanted milkshakes from McDonalds...it's 30 degrees & we're sweating buckets so feel it's justified. Besides, we need to shop for outfits for our Halloween party tonight.
After feeling so guilty making some guys cart us around by pedal power - they even had to get out & push to get up up the hills - we walked back to the hotel (quite a walk) after shopping ourselves out. I had a nice cold shower & rested for a while after being walking around for about 6 hours. Had dinner then read the rest of "Marley & Me" in floods of tears. [The afforementioned halloween party didn't get off the ground till about 11:30 and I hadn't found anything to wear anyway, besides wanting to finish the book]
