The adventure has begun. Packing everything I'll need for the next year into a single rucksack was challenging to say the least! I had lots of help to squeeze everything in...I'm not looking forward to opening it!

Here are some lessons I've learned so far:
1. Securely strap your tent to your rucksack in order to avoid the "oh crap" moment at the luggage carousel when you see your rucksack containing all your worldly possessions bounce down onto the carousel followed by your tent which is dangling by a single, solitary strap

2. Avoid entertaining the late-night airport security personnel by
(a) slipping off the seat when trying to sit in front of the rucksack to get it on your back
(b) almost tipping over backwards when you finally get it on.
Instead, maybe you should try at least once to get the rucksack onto your back before you leave the house!

3. That practice run should also alert you to adjust the height of the shoulder straps so your rucksack doesn't bounce off your behind every step (and also the resulting sweat patch)
