Jeannie here. One of the nice things about Sean is that he is never afraid of looking silly. He was so excited about the trout statue in Gore he couldn't contain his trout impersonation.
Later the same evening, we headed to a lighthouse hike and a yellow-eyed penguin blind. We saw a couple of penguins tottering up the beach and pruning. They really do shake their tails and puff out their chests.
Sheep are everywhere in NZ, and yes we are mocked for photographing them. I guess it would be like taking pictures of cornstalks in Ohio. Some have been shorn, some are very round and woolly. Sean saw three black sheep in the thousands across the country; I saw two dark brown sheep. We say "Sheep" in high-pitched voices each time we spot them. We ooh and ahh over the lambs. We fulfill the stereotype. They are awfully cute.
