Valpo is an incredible city. There are wild cats and dogs all over and the houses in the hills are old, colorful and squished together. The roads are so steep and curvy that its easier to go up in one of the famous funiculars of the city than try to walk. There are always cultural expositions (poetry readings, concerts, art, etc.)
Yesterday we went to a concert in the Mauri THeatre (close to La Sabastiana, one of Pablo Neruda's houses). The first groups was called "La Bandalismo" and its a group from the north of Chile that plays folkloric music. We all danced a ton and when they played "Mambo de Machaguay" (a Jaivas cover) we all yelled MAMBOOO!! It was a perfect night. The next group were friends of Nico's called Cahuin Relonche (a little too weird and experimental for me)
Nico and I went to a place called "Green Absynth" and I tried it for the first time. Afterwards we went to a nearby bar that plays cueca live every thursday ("Chinaski") and so I also experienced Cueca for the first time. It was REALLY fun. The musicians taught me to play some of the instruments and Nico showed me how to dance it.
