St Pauls Cathedral, London
There isn't alot here in this small city, but I think I may have stumbled across the best value hostel in Canada. The ABCC hostel has cable TV, ideal for watching the Aussie residents squirm as England once again defeated Australia in the Rugby World Cup and they provide a free filling breakfast as well as a free barbeque every saturday evenings for the guests. But thats enough advertising for this blog.
Sightseeing in London was done in half a day, although it was fun trying to find as many connection to its English counterpart. Did you know they is a suburb in London, Ontario called Lambeth. Interestingly (or not) most of the road or shop names were named after London Boroughs or underground stations. London also suffers from its fair share of vermin, taking the shape of the black squirrels. Must have found a dozen of these squirrels hidden beneath an old WWII tank in Victoria Park seeking shelter from the rain.
London Vermin, The Balck Squirrel
Its in the evening that London comes to life, except being Thanks giving, most of the students were away. Since the saturday night was soo lame, we decided to make the most of the freakishly hot weather in Ontario and headed down to the beaches on Lake Eerie. Early October in Canada and its around 26 'C, 10 degrees higher than the average October temperature.
That evening we tested the night life out again, ending up at the Brass Door. An Irish Pub that has a unique band playing a 3 hour set. This band consisting of 6 friends from 4 separate bands playing together every sunday. These guys were very good playing a mixture of old rock and rock & roll numbers. They were so good I even fell asleep in my chair and got chucked out. Not exactly a good warm up for our next stop - Oktoberfest.
