The 29th of July is an important date for Norwegian Christians. As this was the date when Christianity was concreted in Norway following the death of King Olav II at Stiklestad in 1030. His death resulted in martyrdom and being king, he became canonised as a saint; this was followed by pilgrimages to where King Olav was buried in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! from all over Norway thus spreading the religion all over the country.
Enough of the religious information, don't want to scare off any atheist. Stiklestad is about 90km north of Trondheim or a short two hour journey by train and is home to St. Olav Festival. With its viking and medieval displays, medieval music and an outdoor musical telling the story of 1030 Stiklestad and King Olav II. It was here were i met two Norwegian girls also going to Stiklestad to met a friend, so i joined then in the short 5 km walk from Verdal station to the festival
Their friend's mother decided to pick these two up, and before i knew what to do, i had been invited for a special dinner, with a Norwegian family. What an opportunity to experience Norwegian culture and a free meal, there was only going to be one answer. However can you imagine how i felt when i turned up at one of the largest farmhouse in Stiklestad and there were 7 more girls also in their mid-twenties. 9 good-looking girls, me, the mother and the brother. KERGHINGGGGG!!!!!! Somebody upstairs likes me.
Unfortunately i am no Casanova, let alone trying to chat one up in my limited Norwegian; so i settled to admire from a distant probably a good move, as i was surrounded by young dentists, doctors, teachers and an explosive expert. Those who know me, know that my track record with trainee doctors and dentists is poor, also 9 girls could inflict alot of damage if i upset one of them.
I must of done something right, as i had a lovely meal of meatballs and vegetables in a meat stock style soup. Taste better than it sounds before i was invited to join them to the outdoor musical.
Very entertaining, would tell you more about the plot if only i could understand the dialogue. An eventful day, and i am starting to enjoy my new view in life.

I hope your being a responsible adult!!
Only me again. Now i don't want to sound like mum but i hope your took precautions out there with you, as you don't want to be getting any Norwegian girls up the duff. Have you had a shave yet as you look about 40 when you don't shave you might end up having old grannies after you.
Keep having lots of fun and don't forget my postcard will send you a text if your phone is working.
Love Sarah x
No chance
I reckon that King Olav II geezer would have stood more chance from 6 feet under than you with those Norweigan types. Though having said that, I would have thought them not being able to understand the usual bollocks that comes out of your mouth would be an advantage on that count? Anyway, I am sure the explosives expert would have been having a few thoughts with what 2 do with your backpack come the 2nd course !! Lee
