Another 23hour ride through the night on the greyhound bus without being able to sleep properly and braking every half hour for Kangaroos eventually pulled up at Darwin and checked into the Youth Shack.Shared a 4bed dorm with Mick,Si and Nicole-Mick and Si two mates from Oldham and Nicole from Glasgow Micks girlfriend.
Place was a bit of a downer as the staff grumpy and had to hassle them just to borrow pots and pans and stuff whenever you wanted to cook and layout of hostel meant you never really got to meet other people.Heard about a night market down at Mindel Beach and so headed off down with Si,short for Simeon whos mums english and dad was greek been travelling for 8months from Oldham-mint night market down at the beach front with every food stall you could think of,Oyster bars, asian food, mexican and even a 'road kill cafe-you kill it,well cook it"
Stood watching a live band called "emdee" who were drum and base but then had a bloke on the didgeridoo playing 4 at once really quick to drum and base was quality
Spent the next week just going out drinking on Mitchell st,the strip along the esplanade full of bars with Si and Mick, one night were in a place called The Vic,a nightclub cum bar when we see this little midget fella having a good old knees up and dance on the dance floor-next thing this girls trying to do the tango with him and is actually picking him up and spinning him round her back and all sorts-had us in pieces. But then 10mins later I look across burst out laughing and tell the lads, theres a big massive rugger player lad has picked him up and is bench pressing him above his head!!!!
went on a jumping crocs tour where we went down the Adelaide river, the place where theres the most saltwater crocs in the world on a 25foot boat and the place was just swarming with them-stopped to get a load of buffalo meat on the way and the guy just

stands at the back of the boat with a chunk of meat on the end of a stick and the crocs literally jump proper vertical out the water with just their tail ends still in to get the meat, awesome

Decided wed had enough of Darwin and started looking on the hostel notice boards for people offering lifts over to the west coast and Broome, and after a few days found one posted from a Dutch guy whod bought a 4WD and wanted to do a cool road trip along the Gibb River Road-a deserted 4wd track proper off roading Oz style in the wilderness past the Wolf Creek Crater and so text with Si saying hed be up for it too as he wanted to head off to the west coast.Got a message back saying hed had loads of offers and wanted to meet up to see what we were like-like an interview!?So we arranged to meet in the Vic as couldnt let it get in the way of our Sat nights drinking!Met the bloke,Flores from Holland and basically got smashed and jusyt agreed with everything he said and everytime he asked what we wanted to see on the way and nature etc, apparantly all me and Si kept saying was,"ah mate itll be sound, well get some of them folding chairs with cup holders for the beers!like it was the only thing we were fussed about!
It worked though as the next day got a text saying we were the coolest guys hed met,hed met loads of germans who had strict itineries and ideas and we had just agreed to do whatever long as we had music beer and folding chairs with cup holders so we were on!
Went and picked up supplies a few days later-gas cooking stove,(the folding chairs!)water tanks, tent etc and arranged to leave Darwin for the road trip across to broome via Litchfield National Park and however long it would take us
