Had a wonder around Moni,it was literally one road winding through the mountain side with about 100 locals making up the town and 4 places to stay in corragated shacks on the side of the road, really deserted and quiet surrounded by rice fields. The owner of the place was offering to take me out drinking at night and then to go to market next morning and try some "Dog Meat" but as I was running out of time and had come here to climb the volcano and see the lakes of Kelimutu said no thanks.Freezing cold again that night and even though slept in 2pairs of trousers,my wetsuit top, hooded jumper and sheet was too cold to get to sleep. Was waking up at 4am anyway to get a bemo to 1/2 way up the mountain so could climb to the top for sunrise.4am jumped into the back of the bemo cold and tired, bumping up and down with 5others when we get a puncture and have to stop in the pitch black while the driver tried to change the tyre! Then engine cut out another 2times but finally made it to the stop. Was pointed in the direction and using camera as torch started the climb in the pitch black, had read about people falling down the mountain in dark so was taking it real slow!Climbed all way to "inspiration point", a peak at the top of the mountain and waited for the sun to come up along with the 20 others or so that had the same idea

Eventually the light came up on the lakes and what a cracking site,

stood on top a collection of volcanos looking at 3 lakes in the craters of the volcano, one dark brown, one black and one a bright turquoise.
Nobody can explain why they're different colours, and they change every so often one was white and the other red about 8years ago but it was a really nice sight with all different colours and the mist and clouds rolling in around the top of the mountain.

Stayed up the top for 3 hours just looking at the colours and around the mountain views really spectacular, and when the sun hits the lakes the colours really come out.
Made my way down and decided to walk back to Moni which was told 13km instead of taking the bemo-man,what a mistake!Walked in flip flops rubbing for 3hours round winding road of mountain and across rice paddy fields when after having enough hailed a bike down and hopped on the back for the last 3km
Grabbed my stuff and 20minutes later was on the bus back down the crappy road back to Ende
