Where I stayed
We took in the scenery and wildlife at a slow pace and after about an hour of weaving and winding we happened upon a resort called Dalia and suspected that the lunch options would not be cheap as we were greeted by white gloved valets and a smartly dressed concierge.
Although we were dressed in our scruffs and covered in terracotta road dust we handed over our helmets and asked to see the menu
We were greeted by the waiting staff and allowed to pick our own lounging area right on the white sandy beach where, to Paula's embarrassment, Vikki made herself right at home by kicking off her primark flipflops and putting her sandy feet on the plush soft furnishings...
We decided to embrace this special experience whole-heartedly and ordered two enticing meals as we whiled away the afternoon sipping mineral water as the crystal blue waters carried a distant wind-surfer past a private yacht and lapped against the unspoilt beach occupied by the tanned bodies of the rich and beautiful.
When the food arrived it was nothing short of heavenly - right down to the wanky sculptured plate that Vikki's was served on and the impossibly heavy, oversized cutlery to eat with - both of us gave out a little squeal of joy at our choice and that lunch turned out to be something very special indeed.
We didn't want to leave our little oasis but the call of the undiscovered island gems grew louder and we returned to our scooter to continue our quest. We rode all the way to the far north east of the island where we stumbled across an even more beautiful beach (we didn't think it was possible!) and an adjacent resort where the cocktails were too good to resist
We took in the atmosphere for as long as we could but, being conscious that we had booked a table for dinner at the best restaurant on the island later that night, we jumped back on the scooter and rode back to the hotel feeling like we had really got to see the beauty of Langkawi - even if we couldn't afford it!
Later that night we got tarted up and went for dinner at Privilege restaurant which was difficult to find but worth the hassle. The food was delicious - spicy Fish curry with a pyramid of rice - the flavours were delicious and washed down well with a bottle of bubbles!
A very indulgent day for us....
