Had a lovely sleep-in and then woke up to the sound of the wind howling - looks like abseiling Table Mountain is out of the question (Mum will be pleased!).

We took advantage of the unlimited WiFi to organise some stuff for Thailand and then went out to explore Cape Town. "Exploring" to use the term loosely - this involved spending two hours trying to DHL/Post our camping gear and canvas home. Apparently you need to wrap everything in brown paper (even yourselves...), pack it in a brown box, put it in a brown sack and bind it with brown tape - and this will cost you 50 for the pleasure...

That done, we heaved a sigh of relief over a beer and mezze platter in Long Street and then went down to the V&A Waterfront to act all touristy. Unfortunately the waterfront wasn't quite what we expected. The bar that had been recommended to us was more like a Wetherspoons, there were too many squealing kids, the wind was practically gale force and there was a McDonalds...and a KFC....and lots of beggars. So, after a quick look around we flagged down Fred in his clean fragrant taxi and pressed shirt to take us home.

We got ready to meet the others at Arnolds Restaurant for Emily's 19th and our goodbye meal - boo hoo! All of the boys had made an effort with their hair gelled over in neat partings, button up shirts and ties, Bermuda shorts and long socks. They were half cut when we arrived.

A slab of birthday cake followed dinner, some shots and raucous merriment - we turned around to see Donna (52) slam a plate full of cream into her husbands face, it also went all over the wall much to the dismay of two particular nearby diners. A good laugh - but a bit naughty!

We had some photos taken of the group, gave Alun our 'constructive' feedback forms and bid some very fond, and quite emotional farewells. We toyed with the idea of going to Mama Africa's to carry on the party but with the wine tour in Stellenbosch tomorrow we decided against it.

Homeward bound...
