Where I stayed
Got ready and walked over with the Kiwi girls and Steph to the posh hotel where we ordered Earl Grey (bottomless cup!) and were given a three tiered cake stand with a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, and a variety of cakes - a nice civilised contrast to the usual drill - well, that was until Jane commented that our waiter was a good cook which he misunderstood and started repeating in a loud voice that he was 'a good cock!' much to the embarrassment of our fellow high tea posse!
After this we ordered a cocktail - Vikki choosing a frozen Daiquiri, Paula opting for a Zambezi Sparkler - and we took in the view and ambience
After our cocktails, and once Jo and Kelly had finished their afternoon tea, we headed for Lola's Tapas Bar and had several glasses of Sav Blanc whilst being treated to a show of African drumming, dancing, fire-eating and fiery poi - it was great fun and we got to see the aftermath of the train boozers returning from their trip staggering up the road and slurring quite a bit.
Returning to Shoestrings we watched France annihilate Australia in the rugby (as Anand put it 'A tactical defeat of an almost assured victory - whatever!) and we partied some more safe in the knowledge that England secured the win over Fiji....
The cheap booze at Shoestrings was starting to take it's toll and some of the locals were transforming into drunk arseholes - their failing attempts of trying to 'bag a white bird' were getting a little tiring so we went to bed when the music finished. Back on the road again tomorrow....
