Where I stayed

We awoke to a windy lake Malawi and hit the road after being spoiled with another French toast brekky! (Just in case you were wondering again, Mum!). Our new recruit Jo, Kelly's friend from the other truck, joined us as we made our way to Lilongwe. She was feeling a little worse for wear after a coupe of nights of extreme partying at Kande. Good girl!

Arriving in Lilongwe we stopped off at a shopping zone where we got some scooby snacks, stocked up on booze for our imminent bush camp, replenished our dwindling money and visited the Pharmacy to get 'Snail Flu' pills - these should be taken 6 weeks after swimming in Lake Malawi to fend off any unwanted stomach parasites. This fact, it appears, had been somewhat lost on Paul and Lucinda who took all their tablets immediately and experienced nausea that they later described as being similar to drinking a bottle of vodka, having a hangover and being hit with a sledgehammer all at the same time. We can't wait until we have to take our tablets in 5 weeks time - sweet joy.

We arrived at the Campsite, set up tent and quickly decided not to go out for a meal with the others but to stay around the pool and have a couple of relaxed drinks. We were not alone in this thought as we were soon joined by several others who opted for an easy life - no stressful calculating of multiple food bills, debates on tips - or not tipping at all, indecision, anxiety! Nutter, you will identify with this, I think.

It didn't take long to get through most of our earlier purchases and we were dismayed to discover that the camp bar had closed - before 11 o'clock!! This had the effect of signalling a call to bed and we didn't fight the feeling. All was well, except we discovered very shortly afterwards that we were sharing our tent with around 7 billion biting ants...
