Woke up at 9am - Woo hoo! Lay in!

Had breakfast of an omelette (thought you'd like to know Mum!) on the roof top terrace of Safari Lodge 'sort of' overlooking Stone Town and then jumped the bus bound for the northern beaches via an 'off licence' which benefitted handsomely from 24 excitable tourists!

When we arrived at Paradise Beach we were blown away by the blueness of the water and the white sandy beaches stretching into the distance - exactly what we had been dreaming of and a direct contrast to the red sand and clammering dust of the past weeks. The heaven was somewhat tainted by the seemingly impossible task of finding anywhere with Wi-Fi. Realising that we have become painfully behind on our blog and wanting to clear the backlog we felt sure that the modern resorts here would be accommodating. Yes, it seems, if you were staying in any other resort but ours! Us, being the economy backpacker types, were only allowed this basic privilege if we paid handsomely (extortionately) for the access code. Not wanting to give up too easily we adopted plans A through to Z - purchasing meals and drinks in the adjacent resorts, tapping up residents of those resorts, inventing plausible room numbers for other resorts to obtain guest codes, begging, borrowing - all to no avail. Frustrated at our failure we decided simply to enjoy our surroundings and had a very nice coconut curry in the process!

We swam and sunbathed and chatted to the Maasai guys patrolling the beach and then we joined the others at a Zanzibar Watersports intro with free booze and food and signed up for a day of snorkelling leaving the following morning. Who needs bloody Wi-Fi anyway?!

We ended the day sat by the sea watching a beautiful glowing sunset with Donna & James and Sue & David over several bottles of vino and had some real belly laughs talking about life, love and the universe!

We went to bed but had limited sleep as Emily, our youngest recruit, had found her gin legs (led astray by Simone) and was relaying between the bar, beach and apartments with various random male admirers whilst screeching in a very annoying American voice until 4am. Paula did consider stopping her in her tracks but after a moment of reflection on her own youth thought it may be considered hypocritical.

The sun rose and we dreamt of snorkelling and revenge....
