Firstly, here's a big cheery beery Happy New Yeary toast to you all from southern Cambodia!

Where has the time gone??
It's been a looooong while since I posted the last update, I know, but it's all been for good reason, and now that I've re-established myself in this new, exciting, challenging and unpredictable location with endless opportunities, I'll be slowly filling in the blanks that have seen me through the back end of 2009, from Vietnam and Burma to Thailand and through Cambodia. As and when I get the chance of course. There is after all, a lot to do here.

Right now I have very little internet access (just a weak signal through my mobile) so I can't send anything sizeable, just a few frequent one-liners. On the rare occasion that I do venture into civilisation I'll try and post more (including pics) but for now, all I can say is that things are... unique.

So where am I? I'm in the Krong Kep province of southern Cambodia, living in the jungle, near the coast, without electricity or gas and blissfully free from commercial consumerism. I'm living on a constant supply of fresh organic food among the gibbons, the crickets, the cobras, the swaying palms, the millions of birds and billions of stars. This is simplicity at its finest and the perfect package of peace and quiet. And once again I'm surrounded by wholesome people. The Khmers really are a delightful bunch, and to be at the heart of things with an endless amount of opportunity just within reach is a wonderful privilege.

So for now I'll leave things there and get back to unfolding the never ending story. Just trust me when I say that going to sleep every night under a blanket of brilliant stars while the bats clown around in the moonlight is just magnificent. And waking up to the call of gibbons at sunrise is an experience I simply cannot put into words right now. So yeah, big big grins for 2010.. :)

Tenner was simply insistant we take him straight away to the jungle after he read this :) I told him the Gibbons swing so gracefully and quickly sometimes it's hard to spot them if fling about too fast. Those bats, are they quick. A personal favourite were the geckos, snapping up the bugs buzzing all 'round the one small light, on only to not trip over the goat on my way to bed. A brand new year is a wonderful gift. The jungle is too. Enjoy it fiercely. Love to you.

Your adventure is a truly amazing read and made us realise that we aren't just chasing pipe dreams and that we too will be embarking on a great unknown adventure. Life's too short to sit and wait for it to happen!
Keep us posted.

There are some great comments in here Woz. Well done for being the inspiration for them.
I'd really like to very much encourage anyone that is thinking about travelling or even better changing their lifestyle into something more liveable.
There is some great people, fantastic places and amazing experiences out there waiting for you.
Partially as a response to what Cobba has written, but really for anyone of the same thoughts - here are some suggestions of what might float your boat:

Visiting Woz in Kep, Cambodia
Trekking in the Himalayas
Visiting the home of the Tibetan Govt in exile, McLeod Ganj
Travelling to Bhutan
Diving with turtles in the Perhentians
Travelling through Myanmar
Seeing wild orang-utans in Borneo
Spending a night or two in a traditional hill tribe village
Teaching to kids that REALLY want an education
Getting to know yourself
and the list could go on and on.

Nice stuff on Columbia. It would be great to go there. The 7 colour river looks amazing - and I just googled it and there seems to be nothing on it.
Even better.

Hola Paul
Yeap the river is fantastic and as you say not many people know about it so it is really a magical place. When ever you decide to go let me know and I can give you relevant info.
