The Last Ferry

Phuket has redeemed itself a little over the past week. When you're stuck in a place recovering with nothing much to do other than watch the ceiling fan go round you're in trouble, and kind of forced in to getting out, sick or not. And so a few days poking around the peninsula by motorbike has helped restore the senses a little, at least those that were deadened by spending time in the seedy hands of Patong.
Nick and Liam left for Koh Samui the day after we arrived in Phuket. Dave stayed on but disappeared the first night. He hasn't been back to the room since. Actually he's been off living it up, spending a copious amount of Sterling indulging in the excesses. But he's got just four weeks left until he returns to England and he's truly going out with a bang, in style. And fair play to him, the lad's on holiday.
As for me, well I met someone. It was purely a chance encounter, and a lucky encounter, as I was beginning to think everyone here was of the same ilk - of the kind that I mentioned in the last entry. The past week has been amazing, really amazing. And she's amazing. Which is shit because I've just done what I always do. Move on. And that's all I'm going to say about it.

Now? I'm sitting here at the jetty in Surat Thani. We left Phuket at 7am this morning and endured a lovely assortment of bus company balls-ups which has meant us missing two ferries. The last ferry we missed is now a silhouette on the horizon. The next one's due in about three hours. Yep. We're smelly, knackered and sweating cobs. By the time we get to Koh Pha Ngan tonight it'll be almost midnight. The Full Moon Party is just a day away. We have no accommodation booked. Or any means of getting there. And now it's just started to piss down. But wait! Someone's just handed me a cold Singha. You beauty!
Where I stayed:
Touch Villa, Patong, Phuket

Not at all Cob. Said 'chance encounter' happened just ten minutes after our conversation would you believe?
'Sweating cobs'? It's a pommie term Cob, a pommie term.
