Two weeks, two wheels..

So I had words at the hotel. Two weeks from now and I'll be back on the road - on two wheels again - taking on the original route to Perth that was planned before I got caught up in Kal. There couldn't be a better time to move on really. Kal's been a good experience and all, even with the constant mindless bullshit, and I've even been fortunate enough to come across a few diamonds in the rough, quality folk who I'll undoubtedly keep in touch with. Foul-mouthed Linda especially really. She'll be leaving in a few days herself, to spend a bit of time frolicking around WA before flying out to Hong Kong. The place won't be the same without her. Filthy jokes and quality banter will be no more, nor will the constant pressure to calm her down during another one of her spontaneous and totally unnecessary moments of inflamed hypochondria. Nor will her nagging at me to rustle up scrambled eggs at a moments notice or bringing me unexpected refreshments while I'm slaving over the griddle at the hotel. It doesn't happen so much these days but I reckon I'll actually miss the little tart. She's become the 'Maggy' to my 'Andy Millman' and I can honestly say I'll be sad to see her go. We'll definitely be sharing a trip at some point though, somewhere, in the years to come - it's just on the cards, it's just all kind of evolved that way.
As well as a few of the others Big Greg will be another one, though any goodbyes with him would be premature just yet. There's talk of us meeting up somewhere south of Adelaide for his birthday mid-December. We'll see.
Above all Kal's been a good fund topper-upper, a much needed gathering of travel vouchers. I've certainly put in the hours. It's been almost five months. Five months! If that's not a sign to start living again I don't know what is. I'm due some long overdue freedom. And randomness. A good few months worth. I'm out of here people.
Looks like I'll be heading south, back through Esperance and along the entwining roads of the south-west coast of Western Australia, taking in Albany, Denmark and the magic of Margaret River before rolling up wearily into Perth. This corner of Australia is stunning - a well kept secret they reckon - so it should make for an interesting ride, especially considering the shitty feral outpost I'll be leaving behind (IN MY DUST I might add!) Once I've made it over to Perth I'll be going with the flow again, back to the happy familiarity of randomness. Maybe up north to Shark Bay, Monkey Mia for a dive with the whale sharks? Maybe just hanging out in Perth, Freo and its surrounds. Either way I'll be happy as Larry, I'll be out of Kal and the baking red will have turned a breezy blue.
Two weeks. Two weeks. Two weeks..
