Day Nine: - Adelaide

It was Mark who eventually made me go. Lee's been on at me constantly prodding and poking about this whole ankle thing. She must have been doing his head in too cos' in the end he just grabbed the phone and gave me a talking to. Every single thing he said made perfect sense. Maybe I contracted an infection or some form of poisoning in my bloodstream through that big burn? Maybe it's flowing round my system on the lookout for a weak spot to latch on to and suffocate? Maybe I do need a bone density test? Maybe it could be an ongoing thing after all? Maybe I really am falling apart? Maybe I'll get into the heart of the Nullarbor and my leg will fall off? Or maybe I'm just getting old? Either way he was right. I've had too many of these problems to ignore it. I went to casualty.

Three hours and an x-ray later I was told that I've torn the ligaments in my right foot. They asked how I did it. I told them I didn't have the foggiest. I asked them how they think I could have done it. They said they didn't have the foggiest either, which gave us all something in common. The outcome? Four to five days of keeping my weight off it, as much as possible. Also, I'm to wiggle my toes occasionally. And that's it. They gave me crutches to hobble away with and I hobbled away.

So here I am, off the road, stuck in a hostel with some seriously annoying dickheads and a highly irritating old Aussie fella who does nothing besides rudely interrupting people's conversations to tell them a boring and utterly pointless story. I know this is all punishment for something. I just don't know what..

Cheer Up Mate!
Adelaide's a pretty nice town so it could be far worse! I stayed in a shitty hostel called the Blue Gallah or something and was glad to get out after 1 day!!

Must be bloody freezing in South Australia by now? When I was there in April last year I couldn't take the cold when it was getting down to 10C at night! Had to head to the north to the warmer tropical summer heat of Darwin :D Good times :)
