We were tipped off earlier today by a fellow Englishwoman, who positively insisted we should visit Antequera tonight. Apparently all the local villagers were turning up to celebrate their Christmas. January 6th. It's what they do.
The the fiesta of the 'three kings' involves a sizeable procession which parades through the streets and involves thousands of sweets and cakes all thrown about the place visciously by throngs of screaming kids. We were keen to see this, so got ourselves prepared and took a drive over.
Fiesta? No. Nothing. Not a sausage. We were misinformed. The mass gathering and festivities took place last night. People.
Instead we made the most, and took our own mini-tour of Antequera on January 6th, sampling some new tasty tapas varieties and a few home brews. Antequera by night was gorgeous, well illuminated with decorations, lights and colours and the vibe around town was humming nicely. A worthwhile little trip after all..
