We arrived in Raglan just after lunch and I watched with joy at Chris' total surprise when he turned round and I was standing in front of him. Surprisingly for me though he was leaving today (actually in a couple of hours) to head over to Whakatane on the East coast. A couple of girls he had met had offered to let him stay at their place. He was very happy about it. So I'd nearly missed him but we were grateful for a quick re-union.

It was good seeing him again and some of the old crowd, it made the night quite a special one. Tucked in to another of Charlie's fine feasts, and had another good night at the lodge with the new crowd and a few songs.

It's amazing how you forget the names of people when you first meet them. You may as well not bother announcing names. It's only when you speak to people for a second time that the name sinks in, as there is usually something secondary to link the name to like a mole, haircut, accent or other particular characteristic. It would be better all round if on first introductions you said 'Hi, nice to meet you, I'll speak to you in a bit for your name, so how's it going?'

Until we all become more acquainted it looks like I'm gonna be stuck with 'the hobbling guy' for a while!
