This was the night I'd been holding out for. My plans to move on from here had been put on hold really because of the BB meet up. Not that I minded at all as I was eager to meet them. At some point we had all agreed that it would be a good idea for those arriving in Auckland around late September time to meet up, considering all the help, support and laughs that had been shared on the website over the past few months. Well tonight was the night. And it was kind of exciting really. Already here of course were Micky, Jo, Johnno and myself and the others had either arrived and were staying elsewhere or were due to arrive. A lot of these 'others' were from different countries and arriving here for a variety of reasons. Fortunately for us 'UK-ers' in room 305, the big meet up was in the Base bar downstairs and was quite convenient as there would be no long walks or taxi's at the end of the night!

'JackieG' had been over to meet us last night however as she was unable to make the BB meetup but still wanted to finally meet some of us. She was a fantastic character, very knowledgeable, charismatic and full of laughs. She was a right 'rowdy old Sheila'! It was great to meet you Aunty J, thanks for all your support and see you soon!

The BB meetup went very well too, and was quite funny from the outset as we were all standing there (a lot of us having built pretty good friendships already), yet had never met so no-one could identify anyone. The introductions generally went along the lines of 'Hi, backpacker board? Great, who are you? - I'm ScottWoz from England, nice to meet you at last!'. It was quite funny how quickly everyone got excitably acquainted and the night started with a real bang. Even the friends we'd made already that were not part of the BB soon became acquainted with everyone else and were as much a part of the night as the rest of us.

Considering some of them were still feeling a bit jet lagged, the night was a great success, and we all had a lot of laughs. It was great to meet you all at long last, cheers guys - see you around!
