Where I stayed
Dooneen House Bed & Breakfast
Blarney Castle was beautiful and we wish we had better weather for it. The rain held off until we kissed the Blarney Stone and pretty much once we were done with the castle the rain came and did not stop the rest of the day. The Blarney Stone is located at the top of the castle and if look closely at the pictures you can see how high we are
After the castle and gardens, we made the short drive to Kinsale which is a small harbor town of 2,000 people. The majority of the city is made up of tourists, so the city streets are jam-packed with people. We hated driving through the city because of that and the rain. We found our bed and breakfast and the owner, Martin was a character (he looked kind of like Joe Voss). Our room was tiny and the Internet did not work, but at least the room was clean.
We went out on the town of Kinsale and battled the rain. There were some breaks but not many, and we used our Rick Steves book to find dinner. We went to the Fishy Fishy Cafe on the harbor and it was a little fancier then described on the book. It was a pleasant atmosphere, but Bekah, yet again, found a bug in her salad. This time it was a beetle, so a little more protein than the small caterpillar we found in her salad in Scotland. After that I could not eat my food and I left unsatisfied and a little sick.
The last part of our evening was the quest for live Irish music. We tried 4 or 5 different bars and did not find anything. At Bulman's the band was packing up when we showed up, very disappointing evening in Kinsale. We really hope the weather improves and no more insects in our food.
