Woke up to a great sunny morning after a good night's sleep. Damyan and Erina were already up, planning our trip.

We decided to go to Balchik, a small town on the Black Sea coast where a Summer Palace was built for Queen Marie of Romania in around 1926 when Romania had control of this region.

Beautiful gardens also surround the Summer Palace covering an area of about 65,000 square metres and has over 2000 species of  plants growing there.

Picked up Jovik, Damyan's best friend and off we went. Past many hotel resorts that have been built along
the Black Sea coast. Finally got to the gardens and started our walk.

Not too many annuals were in flower as it was the wrong time of year, but the trees and old winding paths that led us to the beach and then the Queen's Summer Palace were very impressive.

Will let the fotos explain the rest. Had a coffee in a quaint little restaurant on the beach
and then made our way back to the car.

Went for drive after that through Varna city centre, grabbed some lunch
and went for a walk along the garden boulevarde that follows along the coastline.

Even had one Bilgarian recognise me from working with the Stella Maris in Australia though I could not actually
place him, I must have made some sort of impression on him so that he remembered me.

Finally got some nice cake and chocolate before being driven past the gypsy camp (failed to get a foto here)

Went for dinner with Damyan's sister and her family at a traditional Bulgarian stlye restaurant.

Damyan's sister's husband works as a Chief Engineer onboard a vessel that is due to arrive in Melbourne around December.

The evening was nice and warm (for me) so We decided to walk back to the flat as we had eaten so much and drunk some Bulgarian vodka.
