I was very excited to find a hotel room for under $100 per night. We found our way into Bath quite easily and to the YMCA where apparently I forgot to ask if our room had a bathroom en suite or a TV...the basics. When we showed up to the YMCA we had two twin beds with a bathroom down the hall and no TV, nor electricity for that matter. All for the discount price of $88 per night. You gotta love England and the Pound.
After the shock we got settled into Bath. It is an incredibly beautiful town with winding streets and Roman Architecture. Our main site while we were there was to visit the Roman Baths where we spent a few hours. They were built around 100AD and the sophistication was startling. They had ornate buildings with vaulted ceilings and long hallways as well as plumbing to keep the water flowing out of the baths to the river. We could see the same plumbing system still working today
Aside from visiting the Baths, we walked around the town to check out the Circus - a building that was contructed as a circle that is made up of large townhomes where folks like Gainsburough have dwelled - as they say in the plaques on the wall. Finally, we bought some cheese, ham and a baguette and sat in the park directly across from the Colonnade which has more homes for the wealthy and watched all the people in the park - mostly a lot of people trying to play soccer after watching World Cup who never realized they were horrible!

. The most amazing part was that the ritual of a bath way back when was pretty much the same as going to the spa today. They relaxed in the pools, had a massage and hit the pools again. Not much has changed in 2000 years.
