After the ferry ride, bus ride and car rental we were on our way to Barossa Valley and happy to be moving on from the sleepy Kangaroo Island. We used a B&B Booking service who recommended Tree Tops B&B and we could not be happier when we pulled in to an actual winery to find our accommodations included a very bright room, bathroom, living room and huge verandah all for us! Plus, Joyleen and Malcolm proved to be very nice hosts.

We did make it to one winery, Penfolds where we tasted about 7 wines and left with a bottle. The first evening we settled in and went to a restaurant called 1918 Bistro which was recommended in our favorite guide- 1000 Things to See Before You Die. Our dinner was amazing, made with all local produce and wines from the region.

The next day we took advantage of our spacious accommodations (a very nice change from a hostel room) and spent the morning reading out on the deck. That was after we had Joyleen's amazing breakfast, which included sautéed peaches from her orchard! Then in the afternoon Amy headed out for a cooking demonstration at Maggie Beers, whose cookbook she read cover to cover that morning, and Scott went for a run around the vineyards. At around 3 in the afternoon we learned that lunch is not served all day in restaurants, so we headed to the Market and once again enjoyed the rest of the evening back at the B&B. It was hard to leave the next morning, but was time to leave the wine region and head down to Tasmania.
