We decided to skip breakfast this morning as yesterdays breakfast was so bad it turned us off continental breakfasts for life. I'll drink just about anything but yesterdays coffee was like dishwater and undrinkable. We bought muesli at the supermarket and went out for real coffee. It was very good coffee but then you would expect it at that price.

We had made arrangements to meet up with one of the BOSS's schoolmates from Australia who was on exchange for a year in France. We shall call him MAF to secure his anonimity.

As teeneagers do, they had made plans over the net and the instructions were "meet at Bastille roundabout". Bastille roundabout had 16 off streets and was 800m round so it proved quite an exercise to find MAF, but in the end he found us 01 Inside Notre Dame

 . He was very sweet and bought the BOSS a rose (where's mine?) and they headed off down the street catching up on each others gossip, leaving me in their dust...
MAF had arranged to stay at our hostel so we bought cold chicken and salad and settled into the courtyard for lunch. As MAF had not seen much of Paris, I sent him and the BOSS off on the sightseeing bus (we had two day tickets) and I said I would meet them at the Eiffel Tower at 4.30pm and we would all climb* it for the sunset.
(*climb - are you kidding?? Climb = lift)

I sat in the park and updated the blog and caught up on emails while 4.30 came and went. At 6pm I figured I had better go look for them and found them standing 20 metres away watching the queue to get up the tower. They attempted to convince me that they had searched the park "hundreds of times" ... yeah right...

We joined the queue and as we thought it would be a long wait, I sent the "kids" off to buy us some dinner from the fast food vendors. By the time the kids had reached the front of the food line, I had reached the front of the queue and had no money to buy the tickets. The BOSS bluffed her way past 200 people and the security guards in record time with MAF following in her wake - handed me the money and we got on the lift after a wait of only 45 minutes.

The view from the 2nd floor is impressive but we wanted to go the whole way to the top - it was a perfectly clear day so it should be a fantastic view.
We have an hour until sunset so I am updating the blog from the top of the Eiffel Tower - cool huh?!

hey jackie by the way i think there are more people who know me as Maf then as my real name, and the bastille roundabout thingy didnt look that big on the internet.
