Resurrection Bay Cruise - Kenai Fjord NP

So many of them. However, I could not take a picture since they were too far away. I did get a video where you can see some of the fins. We could not stay outside too long since the wind & rain made things very cool. On top of that, the sea was churning today. So much so that our boat became airborne at times. Many people became pale and had to go to the back of the boat. They did not look to happy. Most of them were the types of tourist who cannot handle hardly any problems on a trip. I guess they should just take a large cruise. Pooh and I had a ton of fun. Felt like a cool roller coaster ride. However, the captain said the waves would be worse heading farther out in the ocean to get to the glacier. So we would have to cut our trip short. He said the boat could make it - it was a brand new top-of-the-line boat. But he was afraid many of the passengers could not take it. O' well. So we spent the rest of the trip cruising the coast of the Kenai Peninsula. With the low clouds, it seemed as if we were in a different world - nothing that I had seen before. Just huge rocky coasts with tons of birds and sea lions with the occasional fishing boat coming out of the mist. The dinner they made us was pretty good - salmon, corn on the cob, rice & salad. They did give us extra food which is always fine with a food lover like me. The only bad part of this trip is that I'm eating more than I'm losing weight. Guess I'll need to start my workouts when I get back. Since we did not go to the glacier, they did give us $40 back. I thought that was pretty fair deal. On the way back to camp, we went to the Safeway grocery store in town which I thought was huge for such a small town. The Safeway's here in Alaska & Canada have been very impressive. I wish we had this back south. Back at the RV we took the lonely dogs for a walk and relaxed for the rest of the evening.
The days of beautiful weather has come to an end. Woke up late this morning to very cloudy skies and off and on rain. Today is to be our wildlife & glacier cruise into Resurrection Bay but that is not until 3:00 in the afternoon so we spent some more time this morning being lazy. I spent the free time, as usual, keeping up with the blog. Pooh worked around the RV. We had an Indian lunch and then took off for Seward. We were running a bit late so I dropped Pooh at the office while I parked at the Kenai Fjords parking lot several blocks away. However, I got there just in time for a shuttle bus. I got to the dock just as everyone was going on board. We were one of the last to get on so no upstairs seat this time. But it did not really matter since it was still a very cloudy and rainy day. This boat was a little larger than the one we took in Valdez - but at least we had sun in Valdez. The cruise was to be 6 hours. At first, we did see a few Otter's playing around. The best part of the trip was a huge pod of Orca's.
