In the terminal in Buenos Aires I had told Mike that my friend Cechu and her husband do not speak any English. I had in mind to play a little joke on the lad. What he didn´t know was that they had lived recently in the states for a number of years. They actually got married in Orem and their english is great. he he he he.
I called Cechu from the terminal and told her to my plan to play a joke on Mike. She reluctantly agreed to go along with it. When they came to pick us up (her and Adán) he was all into it. We laughed together as they helped us load up into their car. Adán and Mike took a taxi and i rode with Cechu to their house.
When we got there, we walked in and Mike began to tell me that he was getting a weird vibe in the place, that he wasn´t comfortable, that Adán had shown him some mate and it ¨looked conspicuous¨. This of course was very awkward for me because Cechu and Adán were both standing right there and i knew they were understanding every word. My, how this plan was already beginning to backfire! After several awkward moments and C&A pretending not to understand, Adán walked over to me and gave me a big hug and began to laugh, telling me that the joke was on me. I was relieved and embarrassed. We laughed for a while about that. Apparently, Adán had blown our cover in the taxi and conspired with Mike to get back at me. It was good. It was real good. I got punked and i deserved it.
