Subita Roma

Now rome, like in the caption. Rome is amazing. I am running out of adjectives but rome is a place where everywhere you look there is something to see, a picture to take, history is all around you. We are using three maps because all of them leave things out and i reckon its because if you included everything there would be no room to show you the street. ùspeak of amazing, yesterday we got up early and paid a tour group to go to the vatican museums, and of course saw the sistine chapel with michelangelos creation and last judgement. there are truly no words to describe the phenomenon we saw. And if that wasnt impressive enough, we entered St Peter's basilica and saw the dome which was also done by michelangelo, the pieta which is a sculpture of the virgin holding jesus after his death, which is what made michelangelo famous at the ripe age of 22 or 25, our guide said one, our book said the latter, and its what made the king commision the sistine chapel to him. we even toured the papal tombs and saw where John Paul II is buried.

Spanish Steps

ùtoday we toured ancient roma and took a tour of the coloseum and palatine hill, where all the royal palaces use to be, and strolled around the roman forum. We have seen so many bthings and i ahve so many pictures i want to post, because literally every corner you turn there are beautiful fountains, statues, churches, etc. The fontana trevi, or trevi fountain and spanish steps, again, so impressive that you are dumbfounded at teh quality and detail of the work.

In roma you also find fountains on the streets and near the ruins taht people still drink from and it is said the water comes from the aquaduct made 2000 yrs ago.

Oh, we have eaten gellato everyday except for one, and last nights treat cost 10 euro or 13 dollars, for one damn but worthwhile ice cream. They are not usually that expensive but we paid i guess for the quality and i guess because its recommended in our guide book. the guide book has been rather useful becuase when we stray from their recommedations the food tends to not be so good, so its not a complaint, just reality. Italy has been very expensive and florence was more expensive, but hell, what do you except from such touristy places.

Vatican

Tomorrow we are off to vienna Austria where we will eb in vienna for 4 days and hope to take a sidetrip to salzburg for a day. then to the mecca, AMSTERDAM!
