We had some time to walk around before our 4:00 boat trip. We paid 50 cents each to go out to the end of Pier 60 at Clearwater, put a parking pass on our vehicle, helped an old couple figure out how to pay for parking, and get our clothes changed. The boat was not even close to capacity. The back half was guaranteed to get wet, and the front was dry.....er
. We took off through the idle zone, and the Pirate Ship was pulling into the dock. That looked like alot of fun, especially if you have kids. I think it was around $26.00 per person. We stopped a distance from some VERY large houses. One had belonged to Hulk Hogan and was the main place where the tv show Hogan knows best was filmed. It is for sale for $13 million now. There was also a house that Tom Cruise had owned, Lisa Maria Pressley had owned one and so did John Travolta. Then we took off for the Gulf of Mexico. We when north, south, east, and west but did not see any dolphins. It was a nice, somewhat wet ride, but a let down because of not seeing any dolphins. However as we were coming back into the idle area, there were some manatees spotted so we watched them for a minute.
We decided to leave and go to a disc golf course. We played the first nine, and part of the back nine but it was starting to get dusk, and we were starting to get hungry. We stopped at a Pizza Hut a few blocks off the main road thanks to the Yelp phone app, only to find that it did not have a seating area. We bought some drinks next door at the Subway, and ate the pizza on the way to Spring Hill.
Left for the airport at 8:00 in the moring because we had a few errands to do on the way. At the airport it was announced that they were overbooked by 5 seats. Airtran only had a flight for the next day to Tampa, but they were offering anyone who gave up their seats TWO roundtrip tickets and a hotel. Miles wanted to get to Florida NOW though. The flight, and picking up there rental car were uneventful. We at at Panda EExpress, then headed to Clearwater. We parked at the marina, and found the Sea Screamer. It is the "World's Largest Speed Boat" and they guarantee that you will see dolphins. It is $22.00 per person, so for a boat ride and dolphin trip it is a pretty good idea.
