What I did
Cave Creek, Arizona State, Old Town Scottsdale
. Next we headed into the capital building. We spent awhile looking around then got directions to Papago park where hole in the rock is. We walked around, Miles tried a little climbing and we sat in the opening of the hole. Then we walked over by a pond where a guy caught a blue catfish. Next we decided to drive around Arizona State Campus. We parked on campus, walked around, went inside the union to see the Pat Tillman Center. We drove past the football and basketball stadiums. Then we started north to Scottsdale. We got to Main Street. In one direction it was the art district where literally every shop was a fancy art gallery. In the other direction was the Old Town. Here were the tourist type stores. Next we did a few geocaches to kill time before getting to eat at Some Burros which we had a groupon deal for. We had to use the coupon after 5:00. It was like the Fazoli's of Mexican Food. It was kinda fast food, but really good, with large portions. After that we went back to the resort and got in the hot tub. The water was SOOO hot that we didn't stay in long and went back to watch the World Series. The Cardinals kept being down, but they finally won 10-9 in 11 innings. It got over at 10:00 Arizona time which means it was 1:00am for people in Indiana. It as very exciting and it meant there would be a Game 7.
Because of the time difference we were up pretty early. We layed around for awhile but before 7:00 we were off on an adventure. First we drove to Cave Creek. It was like an old west town, but unfortunately it wasn't open yet. Next we tried to go to Black Mountain Summit but we could not find access to the trailhead. Each spot that we thought was right ended with a gate. Then we triend to go to Cave Butte Recreation Area. However, it was blocked by a gate as well. There was a sign about the area being closed because of air quality. Next, we went to a park called Buffalo Ridge. The frisbee golf course was very challenging with lots of uphills followed by downhills. It was very rocky, desert like, but also had some plants like cactus, mesquite, etc. After that we drove down to the capital area. We got lunch at a little sub shop. We both got the roast beef special. Next we parked at Bolin Park. There are lots of memorials including the anchor from the USS Arizona. There are two total and the other one is at Pearl Harbor. The mast from the ship is also in the park
