After the wonderful traveling to Paris for part of my spring break I flew to Rome ALONE.  I did not tell my parents until the following week when they visited me in London :)  I knew I was in a safe hostel and I have been beyond independent this whole time and knew I would figure my way around!  So, I landed figured my way to the hostel with their directions from online around 7 PM, got myself settled and immediately went to get pizza. (it was amazing.)  That night I stayed in a 3 person hostel with two boys; I was a bit nervous about it, but they were actually awesome and gave me a ton of pointers of where to go and when!  It was nice they told me that everything was walkable distance other than the Vatican city, so I only spent 3 euro on my traveling, rather than 25 euro!  I went to bed early, right around ten, which is very odd for me, especially in Europe!  I got up at 8:30 and was off walking by 9:30!  We were about a 25 minute walk from the Colosseum and the Forums, on the way I saw many unbelievable buildings and such.  You will see them in my pictures :)  That night my three friends that I was staying with finally got there and we met up with ten other U of M people at a bar to get a couple of drinks.  The next day we toured a lot of the same areas and did so much more! We got a couple of group shots and many more pictures to add to the album.  That night we all met up at another popular bar in Rome.  I forgot to mention that Italy has the greatest food ever...including GELATO.  I could eat Gelato for the rest of my life for a snack and be so happy and content :)  Saturday we went to the Vatican and went into St. Peter's Basilica, sadly I did not have enough time for the Sistine Chapel because I left that night and did not want to miss my flight.  However, we climbed 551 steps to the top of the basilica for only 5 euro!  It looked over the entire city and was quite possibly the coolest experience I have had thus far...very comparable to the Eiffel Tower!  The inside of the Basilica was outstanding and I quote from a Jewish friend, "I am Jew and this is hands down the sweetest inside of a building I have ever seen."  Words and pictures do not do this place justice.  It was time for me to leave, sadly and back off to London!  Only to arrive to my parents!  I got in late Saturday night, but got to wake up early and meet them in my home, Sloane Square :)
