Hi Everybody-

I know it has been many many many many moons since I have added an entry to this blog. I really cant get into it, but the next blog will provide a bit more insight as to why. Lets just say I have been super busy planning for the future! I am so excited though to finally be writing this blog because it means I can look through all of the pictures that I took and re-live the memories that I had when I went back home over the Christmas break! Things have been a bit rough for the Schipper family over the past couple months, both domestically and internationally, and us being together for the holidays was really what was needed. Plus, when your parents say "J, we really want you home for Christmas."- you dont argue with that. So I made the insanely long flights (complete with an 8 hour layover in the freezing cold Beijing Airport) and spent Dec. 18-Jan. 1 in America with my family. Parents picked me up in Chicago where we spent the weekend, and then headed to good 'ole Hudsonville to see the rest of the family. It was better than I could ever have hoped. I got to see all of my friends and relatives, spend Christmas with all of our family together, and it was also just good to get reacquainted with my roots. Its easy to loose your identity and forget where you came from when you live in a foreign country for 2 years, but this helped remind me that no matter where I am, I will always be a good ole midwestern Dutchboy at heart.

Enjoy the blog and stay-tuned as I will be writing another one soon documenting where ELSE I went during my time back in America. It was a last minute decision, but certainly was an adventure!

Take care, and GOD BLESS!
