Hi Everybody!

Yes yes yes finally I can get to this blog. For those that are reading this for the first time, the reason that I have been delayed for so long in writing this is because I had a little bit of an injury (hence the toe pictures at the end of the blog). Who knew that a toe could cripple such a gladiator like myself. I tried to have Nurse Lauren assist me in my injured time but the phrase, "Get up and get it yourself, Its just your toe," was uttered far too often, and I was forced to recover on my own. But I am pleased to say that I am all healed up now and am good to go!

So last weekend Lauren and I traveled to an island called Koh Samet (also spelled Ko Samed), for a much needed weekend of relaxation. We really have been going going going since we have arrived in Thailand and needed a break to recharge our batteries. Koh Samet is an island about 3 hours by bus, south of Bangkok. We left at about 5:30 on Friday evening and sprung for a taxi, because it was so late, to take us down there. We arrived at the pier at Baan Phe, which is a smaller and a really really ghetto version of myrtle beach, and after checking in on the mainland, were ushered onto a speed boat to take us to our resort. Now Lauren would be upset at me if I didnt make mention of the speed boat ride. It was about 9pm at night, pitch dark, and we were in the FRONT of a little speed boat that was seriously traveling about Mach 2 speed through the Gulf of Thailand to our resort. It was insanely bumpy and even all the spankings that I got as a kid couldnt compare to the pain that I was feeling in my bum at that point. I no longer fear prison. When we finally arrived at the resort the speed boat literally pulled up right to the beach in front of where guests were sitting at the restaurant. Lauren and I hopped out the back onto the beach and were quickly greeted by porters to take our bags, while everyone at the outdoor restaurant was watching us. It felt pretty gangster. Like movie stars. Mr. and Mrs. Smith. We declined to sign autographs. Didn't have any sharpies with me at the time.

The resort that we stayed at was called Samet Ville www.sametvilleresort.com and we could not recommend it more! It was so amazing. There is a very touristy part of the island at the north end with shops, restaurants, bars, etc., but Samet Ville Resort is located on the south end of the island in a little cove, totally isolated from everything. We didnt know if we would be ok with the seclusion at first, because the nearest form of civilization was 20 min from this resort. But it proved to be amazing and exactly what we needed. It was so uncrowded that it felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves. After we arrived, we checked in and headed to our room. It was tiny, but it was a private bungalow on some rocks over looking the entire beach. We unloaded our bags, headed to the resort restaurant, and had a couple amazing meals of seafood that was caught right at the resort. We then headed back to our bungalow, made some drinks, and just sat on the rocks under the stars. It was near-perfect and definitely what we needed.

The next day was really uneventful and that was exactly what we wanted and needed. Just explored the beach a little in the morning, laid out on the beach with an amazing book, got incredibly burnt, had some more great meals at the restaurant and spent another evening under the stars. It was just absolutely gorgeous. Of course it is no North Litchfield Beach, but it certainly did the trick. Ha-ha. This was paradise. The pictures really don't convey how beautiful the beach and resort were but with such close proximity to where we live, we will be happy to take anybody there that comes to visit us!

On Sunday we were picked up by the speed boat, gangster style again, and were brought back to Baan Phe where we hopped on a bus and were back home by 1pm. Quite an amazing weekend.

But, one of the main issues that I was having all weekend, is that College Football started!!  And, no surprise, Thailand does not really concern itself with American College Football so there was no way that I could get updated on scores. There was obviously no internet at the resort and we only had 6 tv channels all in Thai. I was dying! Now since it was week one, I am sure that Timmy Tebow and #1 Florida was winning by like 123 points and my Michigan Wolverines were probably losing by 123 to ITT Tech or something, but I still missed it so bad! I was blowing up my boy Scottie's phone like crazy finding out scores. Thankfully the boys in blue won that weekend. Next up is those darn Irish.

Overall, it was a spectacular weekend and we couldnt have been happier with how things went and our accommodations. We just thank God that we could be living in such an amazing place. We certainly plan on doing it again very soon as well as checking out some more islands in Thailand. Check back to the blog soon as we should have another one posted soon of our shenanigans for this week. Thank you all for reading!
