Anyway, enough of that, just happy the kids didn't see any of it..though the evidence is walking all around us and the girls keep asking about landmines .
In the afternoon it is Michael's turn to do his things his things. He gets back with pictures of nice fried spiders and cockroaches and I don't know what else, daring the girls to try some...They only get interested once he offers them 10$ each ...but haven't seen any since so we'll see what happens then..!!!Went out to dinner with M&M being pretty tired. Had a great italian dinner (yes, again!) and the Amelie was so happy to find Tiramisu on the menu (she had been talking about it for days!!!).
Phnom Penh is a great city! Not too big, lots of traffic of course but it has a kind of laid back atmosphere...all those old French buildings, cosy little coffee shops and arts and craft stores and lots of French speaking people
Next day the girls are fit enough to visit the National Museum, a beautiful building built by the French about 70 years ago. We have a French speaking guide to comment the visit (very hard to understand) and the girls end up waiting for us in the garden...so much culture for one day!!!
Relax at the pool again (kind of feel guilty spending so much time at the pool instead of doing cultural stuff but end up convincing ourselves that the girls need a little more rest...bad parents!!) and dinner in a superb French restaurant recommended to us by a French girl who lived in Cambodia several years ago (coucou Karin!!). The place is calles "Comme a la maison"..I would have called it "Mieux qu a la maison"!!! We had Pave de Boeuf and all the works.....yummy!! Great deserts too...we are now of course over budget but the heck, we live just once.
After the Palace next day we go on a shopping expedition at the so called Russian market and end up buying...too much and an extra bag to put all the too much in. We seem to be unable to go on vacation and get back without an extra bag..!!!
Tomorrow we take the bus to Kampot, about 5 hours away.
