It has been so lovely staying with Den and Deelee.   After 30 something years of living in America, I have at last visited my darling brother.

He booked a cabin in the Smokey Mountains, at a place called Nantahala.  (It is an Indian name).   We drove up on Thursday and it was quite a trek.  It is in North Carolina, and it was such beautiful countryside.   It was also fun seeing all the wooden houses, and kind of "hillbilly" cabins, with their rusty old trucks outside.

Our cabin was in the woods, and was really nice.  There were three bedrooms, all kitted out very nicely, with a TV with satellite dish (!), and great kitchen.   We went for pizza in the nearest town which was about 12 miles away called Bryson City.   It was darling.   There were shops that said "Dry Goods" and all the kind of shops you see in old fashioned movies!!!

It rained, and there were hurricane warnings, but it was a bit north of us, so we were fine.   We played some ping pong in the evening, and as I said, had a great pizza.

The next morning (Friday) we booked some white river rafting, which sounded a bit nervewracking, but turned out to be real fun.   It has given Ash the itch to go on a real white river rafting adventure now!!    I must admit, this holiday is just as I thought .... stretching me out of my comfort zone!!!   Ha Ha !!

When we got back from the rafting, all wet and soggy, we changed and went back into Bryson City (it is really a tiny little town!), and bought some stuff for a braai (barbie).

We had fun playing Black Jack and Texas Hold'em in the evening, and then had a good brekkie and made our way back to Atlanta this arvi.   Den is straight back into his busy life of picking kids up, and going to feed the homeless this evening.

Wow....you really are stretching the boundaries of your comfort zone, Vally!!! We loved the different expressions on everyone's faces as you paddled through the rapids. I bet you will be sad to leave Den and Deelee......have a good trip to Chicago.
