We got up early this morning to pack and leave for the airport. We booked a shuttle to take us, but as we were sitting there waiting for it, a doorman asked if we wanted to go in a Hummer limo to the airport and it would cost $10 each. (We were paying $6.50 for the shuttle which has to go to other hotels to pick up passengers). We jumped at the chance and felt very important zipping along in the limo. I have never been in one, so enjoyed it more than the rest. What a mushy treat!!
When we got to the airport, there was a queue to book in and a sign saying we had to pay $2 per suitcase. We peered inside the airport, and there was a normal check in, where you didn't have to pay anything, so off we went to that line, and it didn't take long. We had to use the computer to get our boarding passes, and when we applied it asked if we wanted to upgrade for $14 per person. We said no, as we thought it wasn't worth it, and when we got upstairs to the boarding gate, the fellow said that they had upgraded us themselves, as they had room in the premium economy. Another treat!!! It meant we had about 5 inches extra of leg space.
The flight was so quick. Barely an hour. We got there just before 12. Then we had to wait for a bus to take us the station. Someone on the internet forum had given me such wonderful directions, that we just followed them to a T. It took us over 2 hours to get here though, and what a lovely surprise our little hotel was. We have like a suite, with two big double beds, a kitchen, dining room and nice bathroom. Ash was sooo excited, as it meant we could have fruit and our own meals. I was excited as it meant I could have Honey Smacks for brekkie, but sadly there were none at the grocery store we went to! so I will have to look elsewhere.
I have left Ash upstairs having a kip, as she is feeling quite tired. Not as sprightly as her dear mum!!! Ha Ha!!
The location of the hotel is great. It is in Hollywood and it is behind a big shopping centre, and the Kodak theatre (where they hold the Oscar ceremony), and one block from the stars on the boulevard. I have already walked on a few celeb's stars. In fact, I jumped from one to the other!!!
Not sure what we are going to do here in LA. We will go and see the Celeb's homes, and perhaps a few other things.
