Los Angeles to Carmel By The Sea

We left LA until around 10 am in order to miss rush hour traffic. I am not sure you can differentiate rush hour from the rest of the day because they are always rushing. We will turn north on Route 101. In order to relax our travel pace, we are not going to take the Pacific Coast Highway. Our drive for today ends in Carmel where we will stay two nights. On another marathon drive Helen and I made we discovered a wonderful Italian restaurant. The ambiance was pleasant and relaxing. Hopefully it is still there, but neither Lucy or Ethel can remember the name. We arrived around 6 pm. The drive should have been shorter but it took us 2 hours to get through LA. Traffic was just like the scenes you see on television. No more complaining about your local traffic. We travelled through multiple types of terrains; rolling hill, with black angus cattle grazing, vineyards and fruit orchards. We arrived in Carmel as the sun was setting. The sunsets rival those in Florida. It is about 4 pm PST as I post this entry. It has been a pleasant restful day, but tomorrow we are on our way again to Mill Valley and Muir Woods. It's only 140 miles so we have a relatively easy day.
