We heard a call on the VHF from a boat near the entrance asking for assistance from Exuma Park. They wrapped a line around their stern thruster and had to put out an anchor and can't move their boat. They also indicated there is a shark circling around the boat. The park manager told them that her staff had gone south for the afternoon and there was no one else to help them. She told them if the shark was about 5 feet long and brown then it would be a nurse shark and are only dangerous if provoked. One hour later the boat in distress called a small marina to report a fellow boater offered to help them and retrieve the line that was preventing their thruster from working. That was good to hear. There is no Tow Boats US or Coast Guard down here so everyone helps everyone. We'll keep in touch while their internet is working. Not sure how long that will be with the forecast early next week. Meanwhile we are holed up in paradise. Not a bad place to be.
